RONIN Isolate is a Trusted Research Environment (TRE) and Secure Data Environment (SDE) designed for customers with high-security and compliance needs. Unlike RONIN Core, Isolate is deployed in an AWS account that is, by default, isolated from the outside world, requiring all resources to be accessed through a secure enclave. This self-hosted model provides organizations with full control and visibility over their AWS infrastructure, ensuring data never leaves their custody. RONIN Isolate also provides a configurable baseline of policies and controls to help organizations meet regulatory and IT security requirements.

The platform's architecture is built to be secure from the ground up, with no inbound network connectivity to machines except through the secure enclave. All data within the environment is encrypted both at rest and in transit. Every user action is logged and can be audited, and this logging is combined with AWS CloudTrail to provide a clear audit trail of who accessed data, when, and who created resources. This helps customers meet compliance requirements, such as those related to HIPAA.

In addition to its security features, RONIN Isolate automates complex tasks like access key regeneration and the backup of data, machines, and clusters. It is also fully compatible with additional AWS security services like AWS Trusted Advisor and AWS GuardDuty, allowing organizations to further tighten or relax constraints as needed.
